Centre mulling Dy CM post for T-leader
ELURU/HYDERABAD: Giving a new twist to the ongoing T-tangle, senior Congress leader and Eluru MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao said the Union government
is contemplating to offer the deputy chief minister post to an “able” leader from Telangana region to placate leaders spearheading the separate state movement.
Kavuri, who took part in the all-party meeting in Delhi on Jan 5 on Telangana issue, said though there was no T-sentiment among the people, leaders of TRS and some other parties were unnecessarily raking up the separate statehood demand to grab power. “By offering the deputy CM post to T-region, the leaders championing the movement could be silenced and the stir weakened,” he argued.
He said the TRS voting percentage in the 2009 elections had decreased to 6.8 from 20 during 2004 polls. He also pooh-poohed the claims of the leaders that there was no development in Telangana.
“In fact, this region developed on all front when compared to coastal, north Andhra and Rayalaseema regions,” he said, and added that the T-issue would see a lasting solution very soon.
Meanwhile, taking umbrage to Kavuri’s remarks, senior Congress leader and former minister R Damodar Reddy said in Delhi that they were not after power but want to see a separate Telangana formed immediately. Assailing the MP, Damodar said the deputy CM post offer would not weaken the movement for separate Telangana. He hoped that the Centre would make an announcement on Monday to resolve the issue.
Joining the issue, Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar and senior Congress leader Indrakaran Reddy ridiculed Kavuri’s remarks. “It is preposterous on the part of the MP to make such comments. The aspirations of over 3.5 crore people of Telangana cannot be dismissed by offering some post,” they said.
Congress leader P Goverdhan Reddy too took objection to Sambasiva Rao’s proposal to offer the post of deputy chief minister to a Telangana leader and asserted that the movement for a separate state would not stop till the state was formed.
He said realtors like Sambasiva Rao were only bothered about their business. “We need not give too much of importance to such statements,” he pointed out.

All parties to meet today on Telangana
NEW DELHI: The Telangana battle theatre shifted to Delhi on Monday as both anti- and pro-statehood camps converged in the Capital for talks convened by the Centre even though it was doubtful whether the initiative would show a way out of the stalemate.
Ahead of the meeting to be chaired by home minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday, all the protagonists stuck to their guns while both Congress and TDP continued catering to the rival sentiments simultaneously.
The meeting will see the home minister mooting a proposal to form a committee to go into the issues. The composition of the committee is yet to be decided but the pre-talks atmospherics raised strong doubts whether any such mechanism could bridge the gulf between the contending stands. The main Telangana flag-bearer, TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao or `KCR', demanded that Centre move a statehood resolution in Parliament -- a point he is likely to make at the meeting convened by Chidambaram on Tuesday.
Similarly, TDP sources indicated the party could not "ignore" the "popular" mood against division while asserting that the Centre should spell out what it had in mind before seeking the views of political parties. In other words, the Telangana ball may be lobbed back and forth across the table at the home minister's meeting. Actor Chiranjeevi's PRP is also opposed to statehood while Congress MP Hanumantha Rao said,
"Sunday's rally in Hyderabad showed how deep the support for a separate state is."
Where the meeting witnesses some fireworks is hard to predict though the home minister's effort will be to steer the talks towards some sort of commitment on continuing the talks process. The Centre is keen to chisel out some space so that it can set up a consultative mechanism -- like a committee -- to go into the issue. The Centre desparately needs a few months to allow temperatures to cool.
Monday was packed with meetings. Governor E S L Narasimhan, chief minister KRosaiah, PCC chief D Srinivas and AP assembly speaker Suresh Kiran Reddy separately met Chidambaram who has called eight parties to the meeting. The governor was learnt to have briefed the Centre on the law and order situation and a spike in Maoist activities since Telangana agitation broke out.
KCR's Telangana statement came on the day coastal and Rayalaseema regions of AP observed a bandh to stress their opposition to the state's division.
Eyes are trained on political parties buffeted between contending forces on the emotive issue. Their dilemmas are evident in composition of the negotiating teams chosen by them. Congress has selected an MLA from Telangana and an MP from coastal Andhra to attend the meeting. Ditto for TDP which will see Y Ramakrishnudu from anti-Telangana camp and senior MLA from Telangana R P Reddy present its case.
The surging sentiment for united Andhra has forced TDP and Praja Rajyam Party to review their earlier pro-division stance as they scrambled to recover ground after being surprised by the Centre's initial announcement. Their stakes in Telangana have forced them to play a balancing game even as they oppose statehood.
However, it is TRS that might set the tone as it is not encumbered by considerations of other outfits who have stakes in both regions. Party chief KCR and ideologue Jayashankar will attend the meeting. It was Rao's fast which forced the Centre to announce its backing for a new state on December 9, which it then amended on December 23.
Dissenters like Congress's L Rajagopal, Vijaywada MP, who kicked up a row by offering his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker, opposed central intervention. He demanded an all-party meeting be held at the state-level. "We are all Telugu speaking and we don't need mediators. Do we agree to mediators or third-party role in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
AICC has slapped Rajagopal with a showcause notice. But the polarisation seems complete. P Laxmaiah, minister in AP government, who has taken back his resignation, asserted, "Tuesday will be the second step towards creation of Telangana." His colleague Venkat Reddy, who has been showcaused by AICC, is also in the Capital. Two PRP MLAs have also broken ranks with the party. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat clarified that the Sangh was not opposed to Telangana but added that this should be done peacefully.

She celebrated New Year with Sreesanth and she agreed for that. She also confirmed that they had ‘good time’ in Goa. But immediately covered saying that there were other 15 friends from Hyderabad in that party and they all enjoyed together. Finally she said, “But I didn’t spend with him on 31st night as I was at Sunburn Festival”.
These confused statements of Sanjana gave vent for many gossips. A few birdies caught Sanjana kissing cricketer Sreesanth as well. But when asked she shouted, “I kissed Sreesanth? Did I?? They are just rumors spread by stupid and jobless people”.

Sonia's Thoughts To Make YS Jagan As CM
The stage is set for the 5th all party meet in Delhi. Now, sources from central command reveal that Sonia is looking at making neutral statements during the meet and the objective is to prevent agitations. However, here is the main agenda of ‘Madam’ as per those who know her.
Sonia would be preparing stage for Rosiah to offer his resignation and get Jagan into the chair. Incidentally, the importance of YSR is now being felt strongly by Sonia and she realizes that congress is losing strength and becoming a joke with many leaders singing their own songs in the name of ‘movements’.
On doing extensive groundwork, she got to know that the Jagan group is strong in people following and also the financial strength is deep due to the association with Lagadapati. It is said that Sonia is under the impression that Jagan is the only person who can set things straight. Although she kept him away after YSR’s death, now she has no other way than to make him CM, at least to check on trial and error method. However, what is there in her mind, we will know soon.

Why TV9 scrolled wrong news on CBN?
The news was suicidal for Telugu Desham Party and chandrababu naidu, when well known regional media news channel TV9 scrolled and highlighted the news that chandrababu naidu has made his stand for “United Andhra Pradesh.”
The scroller coincided exactly with the time when “Vidyarthi Garjana” was in full swing at Osmania University. Few of the leaders after getting the information have started to target chandrababu naidu and TDP from the dias of “Vidyarthi Garjana.”
Knowing the news Telangana TDP leaders have rushed to the residence of chandrababu naidu to know about the transparency in this news and were shocked that Naidu hasn’t made up his mind for “United Andhra Pradesh” and he was still abiding with the resolution that was passed on Telangana in their party meeting before elections.
Although TV9 later removed these news from scroller and main news, TDP is thinking of filing a legal suit against TV9 for publishing wrong news.
